This is not my line but I have dabbled in the VA Linthicums and find that there are a great many mysteries to be solved there.Many descendants trace their line back to an Edward or Thomas in Virginia with a very weak linkage back to the Maryland family.Whether we accept the notion that we have only one immigrant in Thomas b 1640 or not, the lack of easily found documentation for these families who probably left Maryland presents real problems for the casual researcher.
I just found this info (see below) at Family Search a couple of days ago.This doesn't directly help you with your Ed. but is pretty good proof that there were Linthicums in Goochland Co. (I would read the record below as LINTHICUM and GAITHER as these families are closely associated in AA Co., MD)
To date this is another dead end.
