Thomas Linthicum m. Elizabeth Manship before 1827 NC ?

I am attempting to trace the first few generations of the descendents from the marriage of Richard Linthicum and Mary Sherwood who moved to NC from Talbot Co., MD in the late 1780’s or early 1790’s. My aim is to gain a set of facts that will improve my understanding of my own ancestors who I believe also come from this Linthicum/Sherwood marriage. If the information below reveals any connection to any readers, I would appreciate hearing from you.

In the 1850 Guilford Co., NC Census p361, Southern Div, we find Albert Linthicum b: Abt 1827 in Guilford Co., NC, Daniel Linthicum b: Abt 1829 in Guilford Co., NC living with the Howren family. There is also an Elizabeth Linthicum, age 52. It appears that the head of household, Margaret Howren, age 72 is the former Margaret (Peggy) Linthicum, widow of Benjamin Howren. Nearby on p360 with the Richard Wilson family, we find Diana W. Linthicum b: 21 Jan 1831* in Guilford Co., NC (*we know this date from later reference on a tombstone). This Richard Wilson is a grandson to Richard Linthicum and Mary Sherwood through their daughter Elizabeth and husband John Wilson.
At any rate, I’m seeking to find out why these three young adults seem to be in disconnect from their birth parents. Recently, I found an undocumented reference to the subject marriage attributing all three of these children to the marriage. Additionally, I have Thomas Linthicum (1784 MD – 1862 IN), son of Richard Linthicum and Mary Sherwood, who I have not found on any 1850 Census but appeared in Monroe Co., IN on the 1860 Census with family of an earlier vintage (mother also unknown to me.) His son Elijah (1808-1867) lives nearby and married Amanda Conder in Monroe Co., IN in 1853.
I would appreciate the opportunity to communicate with anyone having knowledge of this family and be willing to share any information I have.
Terry L. Linthicum of the Southern IN Linthicums by Way of NC and KY
