It is about 20 pages, I could duplicate it and mail it. The quality is not great, some pages have some of the text unduped. I have the Sotweed book and a couple of xeroxed pages from Londontowne: A Brief History by Donald Shomette. Londontowne was attempt by the rural population of Anne Arundel county to get a port away from Annapolis. Thomas was the first person to buy a lot. Londontowne was/is about halfway from Route 2 to the beach on State 214.
In another path I asked Caroline L. Britt Mullins, author of The History of Mayo, Maryland for any description of Linthicums in her book since Mayo was where Thomas established himself. She sent the following, and has asked to get past a security system I have to send more.
First Settlers & Early Roots
LINTHICUM FAMILY
They married into the Duncan, Mayo, Lee and other families. The settler, Thomas
Sr. was transported from England or Wales by Capt. Edward Selby before 1658. He
was first in the Quaker records. then in the All Hallows Church records. He acquired
1,200 acres of land before he died in 1701. Thomas Linthicum Sr. owned "Margaret
Fields," his plantation. It was 280 acres on the south side of the South River.
He also owned "Hedge Park" which was 94 acres on Harwood Creek off of
Rhode River bordering his plantation. Other properties were "Linthicums' Stop,"
50 acres surveyed in 1676, "Linthicums Lot," 70 acres surveyed in 1678,
and "Haslings," a 200 acre parcel on the south side of the South River.
He married Jane Baldwin Cotton.
The children of Thomas Linthicum Sr. & Jane Baldwin Cotton
1. Hezekiah m. Milcah Francis in 1697. She was from Rhode River. He received
all of his father's land mentioned above.
2. Thomas Jr. received "Morely Grey," 150 acres on the Patuxent and
"Davis' Rest."
3. Mary m. Richard Rutland and received 100 lbs. of silver from her father.
4. Jane m. Thomas Rutland and received 100 acres called "Chance," 75
acres of "Jesse's Inheritance" and 39 acres called "Jesse's Search."
Hezekiah and Milcah (Francis) Linthicum's children:
1. Mary born 1700, married Edmond Wayman (of Leonard) in 1716.
2. Frances (1709-1765) married Eleanor Williams (of Richard & E. Stockett).
3. Thomas Francis (1716-1790) married Elizabeth Williams
4. Hezekiah (d.s.p.)
Children of first son, Francis and Eleanor (Williams) Linthicum were:
1. FrancisJr. (1734-aft. 1797) married Mary Mayo in 1755
2. Milcah born 1735, married Thomas Wayman
3. Eleanor born 1737
4. Thomas born 1743
5. Mary born 1746 6. Frances born1749
7. Richard born 1752, married Mary Lee (of mother Mary Willoughly from the
Eastern Shore)
Children of Francis Jr. & Mary (Mayo) Linthicum:
1. Joseph born 1759
Childen of Joseph:
1. John 1780 received from his grandfather, part of "Marg. Fields,"
"Haslings" and 25 acres of Turkey Point.
2. Mary received from her grandfather, 75 acres of "Marg. Fields."
3. Eleanor born 1761
4.Thomas born 1763 received from his father in 1787, "Hedge Park" and
part of "Marg. Fields."
5. Sarah born 1763 received from her father 57 acres of "Hesling." 6.
Richard born 1767 received 53 acres of "Hedge Park. "
7. Anne born 1777 married William Johnson
8. John born 1779 received 50 acres of "Hedge Park."
As near as I can tell from other stuff this is the first time Thomas' wife's name, Jane Baldwin Cotton, has appeared. I am going to buy the book so I will have any other information on the location of land, houses, etc.
