I was told by my grandfather that the black Linthicum's came from the tobacco plantations that the family owned in Virgina before the Civil war. I was told they were treated very well and took the family name as their own. My grandfather and I were invited to a big family reunion/barbecue down in New Orleans were we met some black Linthicums who confirmed this story.I hope this answers your questions.
