Mrs. Linthicum and Mary Jane

My niece found a book "Mrs. Linthicum and Mary Jane" in a booksale. It is by Charlotte Hay Meredith (autographed)published in 1913 in Chicago by M.A. Donahue and Co. Illustrated with cartoons by C. A. Briggs of the Chicago Tribune. Story of a widow washerwoman in a town near Chicago with five children: Benjamin Franklin, Peter Cartwright, Daniel Webster, Keziah Ann and the eldest, Mary Jane. Unique, I think, for the Linthicum in the title and the name "Keziah". As one who has seen many Hezekiahs in his family tree it is nice to see the name feminized. Anyone know the connection between Linthicum and Ms. Meredith?
