Linthicum Family Genealogy Forum
Hello Brian. I stumbled on this site looking for something else. As I understand it a Welshman by the name of Thomas Lincecombe if memory serves came to America in the 1600s and changed the spelling to "Americanize" it. This is from a geneology book my family has going all the way back to him. So, as far as I know, we are all descended from him and his two sons (he also had two daughters), and the name is "Americanized Welsh". Hope that helps. Also, I live in California and folks out here have a terrible time pronouncing the name, perhaps it's the same in Texas. If you don't know this, there is a Linthicum Heights in Maryland, and if you visit the east coast, the name just falls out of folk's mouths like water - quite a change ;->!
