Note: Solomon Linsley was one of the original settlers of Addison County, Vermont. He went there from Litchfield County, Connecticut, in 1774. His name is inscribed on the back of the original charter for the settlement of Cornwall dated December 25, 1771. His original one hundred acre farm (laid out on October 23, 1774) was located in the center of what became the village of Addison, Vermont. He left Vermont in 1777 as the area was indefensible from British invasion. He returned to the area in 1783 to reclaim his original holdings, or 'pitch.' In late 1801he emigrated with his son to St. Lawrence County, New York.
