As to your Henry and Elizabeth, I'm unable to find a match in my records. However, a couple of comments may be helpful.

First, there were both Lein and Line lineages in early Lancaster County. George Line, whose line (no pun) apparently originated in Switzerland, and whose records were always spelled "Line", as far as I have been able to determine, moved his family from Lancaster to Cumberland County in 1778.

My Lein lineage remained in Lancaster, and there their name was recorded primarily as "Lein" in German church records, as "Line" by English speaking scribes, and occasionally as "Lyne". Given the time and location of your Lines, I would expect that they were descendants of my immigrant ancestor Johannes Lein. See the introduction to my Lein web page,, for a little more discussion of these spellings.

Second, I've taken a look at my lineage (to remind myself what I had found), and see only one promising branch, near the end of my web page: Abraham Lein, born about 1762, was married 11 Feb 1783 to an Elizabeth Veit. They had three children, the youngest a son born 1790-1800 according to the 1800 and 1810 censuses in Conestoga. It is going to take a bit of work and luck to determine whether or not that third child had the name of Henry, but that is what I would target trying to finding out. Church records would be ideal, of course, but I haven't looked into that possible source.

Hope some of this helps. Please write to me directly at with more details about your lineage, and I'd be interested in looking again into my files to see if anything turns out to be relevant.
