Hi again Larry,
I checked my files, and I think that you skipped a generation. John Lindsey's son, Joseph H. Lindsey, had a daughter named Elizabeth J. Lindsey. My records show that Thomas W. Coleman was the administrator of Joseph H. Lindsey's estate. So Thomas W. Coleman would have married the daughter of Joseph H. Lindsey, not John Lindsey.
Joseph H. Lindsey was the son of John Lindsey and his first wife, whose name is unknown (she was not Elizabeth West).
At this time, the parents of David Lindsey (who married Mary Casey) are not known. There are two descendants of David Lindsey in the Lindsay Surname DNA project. The DNA tests place David's descendant in Group 2. The Group 2 Lindsey's descend from a family of Lindsey's who lived in old Frederick Co., VA ca. 1733-1785. David was most likely the son of one of the Lindsey men who lived in Frederick Co. at the time of David's birth.
I have done quite a bit of research on David Lindsey, and most of what I have found is on this web page about him:
It will be difficult to prove who David's parents were because so few records are available that could tell us more about his early childhood.
I hope some of this helps.
