I also have a Henry Clay connection in my Lindsay line, and I would just bet there is a connection with yours. My great great grandfather was Dr. Opie Lindsay of Ky.He attended Transylvania College,Lexington, in 1832.Henry Clay's office was just down the street. Some how young Opie and older Henry became friends.I am sure the Mr. Clay was some way connected with the College as well.Anyway Henry Clay gave a silver headed cane as a wedding present to Opie when he married. It was passed down to me from the marriage of Opie's daughter Alice to Washington
Lafayatte Collins of Grant co.
Dr. Opie was of the line of the Lindsay's of The Mount of Falls Church Va. and desended from Robert Lindsay of Northumberland Va. and then back to two of the major lines of the Lindsay's of Scotland and before that to Flanders.
I am willing to bet that we cross somewhere.
