Greetings all,
Looking for any links to my maternal gg grandfather George Lindsay (b. 1815-1820, Scotland) living in Upper Towamensing Twp., Carbon County, PA (near Mauch Chunk aka Jim Thorpe) from 1836 to death sometime after 1880. Married Pennsylvania Deutsch woman Elizabeth nee unknown from Lancaster County Amish Region. George and Elizabeth had seven children:
1. Martha Becker (b. 1846, m. Jacob Becker, d. ab. 1880, diptheria, 1 known son)
2. Stephen Lindsay (b. 1850)
3. Sarah Lindsay (b. 1851)
4. Lizzie Norris (b. 1854, m. unknown Norris, 2 known sons)
5. Hannah Priscilla Alderson, my ggrandmother (b. 1860, m. August Alderson ca. 1882, d. 1932 Luzerne, bur. Pine Hill, Shickshinny, 2 sons, 2 daughters)
6. Harriet H. Good (b. 1866, m. Albert Good, d. 1903 Shickshinny, bur. Pine Hill, Shickshinny, 1 known son)
7. Lillie A.R. Lindsay (b. 1868)
The above is certain. The below is less certain.
Patriarch George Lindsay is believed to have immigrated in 1836 with his mother Mary Lindsay and brothers Andrew and William Lindsay and sister Isabella Lindsay. They initially settled in Marietta, Lancaster County, PA where George wed Elizabeth and subsequently migrated slightly north to Carbon County (Towamensing Twp, Franklin, Weissport, Parryville). The rest of George's family is believed to have migrated much further north to Carbondale, Luzerne County, PA.
