Looking for the ancestors of Gibson M. Linkes born in 1851 in Tennessee. His parents were John Lincus, Lincos, Linkus,
Linkous and Mary ? of Grainger County TN.
They are all listed in the 1860 census in
Grainger TN. I have seen his name spelled
4 different ways. Gibson left home at age 11 and disowned his family and changed his name to Linkes. It has been speculated that John's father was a Linkous from VA..
A descendant of Henry Linkous. But no
direct proof can be found..
