I am trying to track down Pittsburgh lawyer Edwin M Stanton. I found a reference to President Abraham Lincoln's secret visit to Pittsburgh around May 1861 with the Lincoln family. I am wondering if anyone would know about this visit.

Some pictures were discovered of the party in the ferry boat just west of Pittsburgh.

They are:

Abraham Lincoln with a very short beard

Col Elmer Ellsworth- body guard

Ward Hill Lamon- body guard

Dr David Metheny- local Pittsburgh MD

William Wallace Lincoln- The President's son

Thomas Lincoln - The president's other son

Albert Edwards - William's friend

Lockwood Todd - Mary Todd's cousin

Francis Todd Wallace- married to Dr William Wallace

Margaret Todd Kellogg - 1/2 sister to Mary Todd

John Hay - Lincoln's personal secretary

Levin Handy- nephew of Photographer Mathew Brady.

Jack Boyle - Ferry Boat owner of the boat the picture was taken on.

I know Abraham Lincoln visited Pittsburgh Feb 14 1861 on the death of four Lewis Children by Typhoid Fever. Benjamin P Thomas states on page 68 in his book STANTON, that Edwin M Stanton's wife Ellen Hutchison was a descendant of Meriwether Lewis.
