Hello, Lisa. Thanks for your interest and thoughtful questions.
http://home.att.net/~rjnorton/Lincoln2.htmlhttp://home.att.net/~rjnorton/Lincoln2.html is an excellent site on Lincoln's history, life, etc.
There is no known native American ancestry for the president that I have ever seen, and I've done a lot of research.
The name Lincoln derives from the Roman city "Lindum Colonium", or colony by the lake. This is now the present day city of Lincoln in Lincolnshire, England.
Abraham Lincoln had an older sister Sarah, who died while giving birth to her child in 1828.The child also died, and the president was not close to his brother-in-law, tended to blame him for her death. He had a younger brother Thomas who died shortly after birth.
His Lincoln uncles were Josiah and Mordecai, and aunts were Mary, Nancy Ann and Abigail. He had cousins on his mother's side, was especially close to Dennis Hanks. The president's only son to survive to adulthood, Robert Lincoln, was a Harvard graduate, lawyer, Secretary of War and ambassador to England (where his son, Abraham Jack Lincoln, died at age 17).
I have read the Enloe claim.I find no proof offered for any of the claims, just supposed testimony from people that cannot be substantiated. And the Enloe story completely ignores the existence of Sarah, who was born prior to Abraham. For some, this will not go away until DNA testing of the tiny samples of the president's remains is done, and right now no authority is willing to part with samples for testing.
My site http://lincoln-family.comhttp://lincoln-family.com has some further research.
DNA testing proves that I am not related to the president.
