Hi Judy:

Well, I don't know how much help it will be, but there definitely were Allens living in Limerick. My great grandfather, Henry Allen, was born and died in Derk Townland, County Limerick, and Family Legend has it that several of his daughters went to New Zealand. None of them were great on geography, though. Serial migration was a big part of the Irish diaspora. So, that would make more sense if they were corresponding with cousins in your Allen family and got to Australia that way.

I have a few more details, but I don't know how relevant they would be to your family history.

Jim
