Sorry to jump in. I have a grt. grt. grandpa Maurice (Morris) Lillis, b 1820 IRE d 9-23-1876 Chicago, IL. His wife was Margaret McGuire b 1820-1828 d 6-26-1908. Children included at least the following in order (starting about 1852): Martin, James (Jimmie) (went to Kansas City), Mary m. Edward Walsh, Ella/Ellen/Nellie m. Patrick Joseph Vaughan (my grt. grandparents--they moved to Lafayette, IN), John J., Thomas, Elizabeth. They were Catholic--all buried at Calvary Cem., Chicago. Lived in/near current Chinatown, Chicago on Grove St.. When Maurice died the paper copied the information to Cincinnati, OH and Jersey City--so there must have been Lillis relatives there. Can you help? Have you run across this family? Similar names but those were probably popular names at that time? Any help appreciated.
John Preston
