Lillises from Co. Cork and Frankfort, Ky
There are quite a few Lillises listed in Co. Cork Ire.I haven't established a link to any yet. My connection comes from Edmond/ Edward Lillis. I presume that he was known as Edmond in Ireland and Americanized it to Edward after he was here for a while. On his marriage bond and return in 1859, he signed it as Edmond. Then later I find him listed as Edward and he named one of his sons Edward. He married Susan McAuliffe in Frankfort, Ky. They had seven children. The frustrating part is out of seven children, four never married. One who married never had any children and some of the other grandchildren never married or their children died young, so few if any left decedants. I have lately come across information from notes my mother had written that would indicate that Edward was one of several brothers, I have found a Patrick and a John in his house in the 1860 and 1870 census and I think this is family helping family.I know that there were other Lillis families in Franklin Co. Ky. at that time and several lived in Frankfort. If anyone has more info or wishes to compare info, feel free to email me.
Good luck to all of you in your search for your kin.
Respectfully, JFM.
