hello samuel liles: i have a family tree book composed by parker liles of stone mountain, ga in the late 1960's (pre-home computer). it is old fashion reasearch done by travel and interview and the script is the old key type.

he did not get extensive beyond the 1800's though he did have a few pages of eariler dates. from this book it seems that in general the clan arrived at va then migrated west and south (mainly the carolina's and ohio valley).

his research indicated the name liles (and derivities such as lyles, lyle, etc.) came from the term: of the (del) isles, thus del isles, later shortened to liles. at least for 400 years before migration to the new world they pimarily lived in ireland, scottland, wales, england.
