Richard F. Liles/Lyles was my husband's gg grandfather. According to census records, he was born in Georgia in 1828. I know that is not much to go on, but that is all I have of his early life.
On December 19, 1853, he married Pheba L. Turner in Itawamba Co., MS. Pheba was the daughter of Lorenzo Dow and Juda McDonald Turner. Richard and Pheba had five children; the youngest, Abby, was born several months after her father died. Richard was mortally wounded at the Battle of Franklin and was moved with the retreating Confederate forces to Columbia, TN, where he later died of a head wound. He is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Columbia.
I am hoping someone recognizes Richard F. Liles/Lyles and can help me finally bust through my brick wall of several years!
