My greatgranddad Robert C. Liles (b. 1881 Polk CO, GA) was dark-skinned, dark-haired and dark-eyed in a photo I have of him around age 40. He goes back to Enoch Liles 1795-1830 Laurens Co SC, son of one of the John Liles in SC.(?) There were so many types of Indians up and down the coast of MD/VA/NC/SC that you needn't assume Cherokee-especially with that old story about the Cherokee pursuing Ephraim from NC to SC. There is no oral tradition of "Indian blood" so I think it must've been so far back it'll be as hard to find as which Liles got off the boat into America. Let me know if you get something. leyhok@gmail.com
