I know I made a few posts regarding my 2nd great grandfather George W. Liles and his wife Lottie Ann Curry. The information I have on my 2nd great grandmother I know is correct as her daughter, my great aunt, helped in filling out her death certificate: born 18 Nov 1859 in Maury Cty, TN, died 18 Dec 1939 in Fort Worth, TX. On the death certificate it listed her husband, my 2nd great grandfather having the name George W. Liles (on the certificate it was shown as "Geo Wash Liles") Since then, I have thought he was born between 1950-60, and when I went to see what I could find at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, it shown his birthday to have happened in 1856 (according to the 1860 Census Records). He had a brother who was born in 1858, Richard Liles (holds true as my dad thought he became a Postmaster in Arkansas), a sister, Mary T. Liles, born in 1855. Where am I going with this? George W.'s parents are shown to be J.W. Liles (not sure what J.W. stands for but I'd guess John or James W. Liles) born in 1826 and Elizabeth (unsure of her maiden name) born in 1838. In those Census records of 1860 in Arkansas, it shown they all were born in Maury Cty. TN. So, considering my dad heard from his aunt Laura nee Liles Taylor that there was an uncle who became Postmaster in Arkansas, it stands to reason Richard Liles is that man. What I'm looking for are the parents of J.W. Liles, born 1826, Maury Cty, TN. We keep hitting walls in terms of is there Cherokee blood in our family or not? I have talked to quite a few people who say that the Liles Family from Maury Cty, TN also had ties to SC and even earlier. But it would be nice to know for sure. Any and all help would be nice. At least I'm further back on this. Also, will take the time to thank those who helped and encouraged me to keep working on this; Armond Sonnek, a cousin through the Price family (my great grandmother is his great aunt), to Bill Liles for alot of the information he's helped with, and Becky Dean who's offered help with Census Records. I also thank everyone who's a part of the Liles family; I'm proud to have such a huge family, even if I don't know the whole lineage. Everyone has a part in this and the history of this family.
