Col. James B. Likens became a member of the Texas legislature and a reknown attorney in Galveston and Houston. He lies buried next to his wife and a son in Greenwood Cemetery off Washington Road in Houston. He has a VA marker which denotes his service as a Private in the Mexican War and Colonel of the 35th Texas Cavalry (AKA LIKENS' REGIMENT) in the War Between The States.
If you would like a photo, please just ask and I can send a photo or scan.
I am writing a book on the 35th Texas Cav. as my ancestor served in the unit. BTW, my ancestor was I.B. Ellison of Company "E".
