Good to see a English/Irish Light connection.

The Light family that I am researching dated back to the 1700's. Mary Light (a serving wench) had 3 children with Francis Negus. The children, Francis, James and a girl. Francis Light annexed the island of Penang (Malasia) for the British government. He married a eurasian princess(?) there. One of their sons, William was in the British army and navy. He surveyed Adelaide in South Australia in the early 1830's.

My family is descended from James (above). If any of this means anything to you, contact me via e-mail.
