Herbert H. 'Herb' Light, 80, of Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN,
went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly at 2:38 p.m.,
Sunday, December 15, 2013, at Indian Path Medical Center,
Born in Greene Co TN, on August 18, 1933, a son of the late
Wilson H. and Opal Mae Metcalf Light, he has resided in this
area his entire life. Mr. Light was a veteran of the Korean
War having served in the US Army. He retired from the State
of Tennessee Department of Transportation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
wife, Doris Ann Pierce Light; and two brothers; and a sister.
Mr. Light is survived by three sons, Randy Light, of
Kingsport, TN, Roger Light and wife Charsanna, of
Kingsport, TN, and Glenn Light and wife Vickie, of Unicoi,
TN; five grandchildren, Travis Light, April Light, Steven
Light (Erica), Scotty Light (Jennifer), and Victoria Fox
(Cody); three great-grandchildren, Kobi Light, Isaiah Light,
and Simon Light; one brother; three sisters; several nieces
and nephews; and special nephew, Charlie Light and family.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., on
Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral
Homes, Fall Branch, TN, and at other hours at the residence
of his son, Roger Light, 833 Poplar Grove Road, Kingsport,
The service will follow at 8 p.m., with Pastor Brett Jones and
Rev. Jeff Strong officiating.
The graveside service will be at 2 p.m., on Thursday,
December 19, 2013, at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Fall
Branch, Washington Co TN, with Military Honors accorded
by The American Legion, Hammond Post #3 and Gate City
Post #265. Travis Light, Steven Light, Scotty Light, Cody Fox,
David Jackson, Jimmy Kerns, Charlie Light, Roger Light, and
Glenn Light, will serve as pallbearers.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch, TN, is serving
the Light family.
