I am replying to this message about 6 years later, but I've just begun looking at the Light genforum. One set of my great great grandparents were Timothy Light and Sarah Amandy Dykes Light. Timothy Light was born 25 Oct 1828 in Hawkins Co., Tennessee but I don't know who his parents were. Susan Amanda Dykes was either born in Greene Co. or Hawkins Co., Tennessee 30 Oct 1830. Her parents were William II and Jane Genney Gallemore Dykes.
According to my records, Susan Amanda had an older sister named Elizabeth who was also listed as Eliza Dykes on census and marriage records. Eliza Dykes was born in 1818 and married Michael Light 18 Nov 1836. Michael was born in Oct 1812. I am certain that this Michael Light is your Michael Light. 1850 and 1860 census records show a daughter named Lucinda. The 1860 census shows a daughter named "A. Light."
That same 1860 record shows the daughter Lucinda as being 21. Further down, James Roser is listed along with his wife Lucinda (21) and two children. They are living in Michael Light's household. This would be the Thomas James Rosier that you talked about. It appears that Lucinda is listed twice--once with her maiden name and once under her husband with her married name.
My interest is that my gg grandmother, Susan Amanda was the sister of Eliza Dykes who married Michael Light. Susan Amanda married Timothy Light, and I wonder if he is related to Michael. I haven't seen any of you mention Timothy as being a brother of Michael. There apparently is no Timothy in the will that you mentioned. But they are probably related, possibly cousins? If you have any information about a Timothy Light, I would appreciate hearing about it.
Timothy and Amanda Dykes Light moved to Phelps County, Missouri around 1851 and lived near Rolla. Their daughter, Mary Emily Light married Luke Paris West and is my great grandmother. Timothy fought for the Union Army during the Civil War and was killed in Texas. No one knows where he is buried. Susan Amanda Dykes Light is buried in the Macedonia Cemetery, Phelps County, along with her children and grandchildren.
