Effie 'Maw' Light, 92, of Chuckey, Washington Co TN,
passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Indian Path
Medical Center, Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, and went home
to be with Jesus.
Born in Sullivan Co TN, on November 15, 1919, she attended
Chimney Top Freewill Baptist Church.
Effie loved making afghans, gardening, flowers and
canning. She loved her Lord, children, step-children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grand-
children and brothers and sisters.
Effie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Light;
parents, Enos and Fannie Littleton; and three brothers.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Wallen and wife Ruth,
of Kingsport, TN; daughter, Ruby Jackson and husband
Archie, of Chuckey, TN; four step-daughters, Linda Higgins,
of Fall Branch, TN, Joann Estepp, of Greeneville, TN,
Cathy Early, of Chuckey, TN, and Connie Brown, of Chuckey,
TN; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three
step-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Littleton and Ray
Littleton, both of Kingsport, TN; sisters, Marie Honeycutt,
of Kingsport, TN, Madeline Depew, of Fall Branch, TN, and
Betty Morelock, of Rogersville, TN; and several nieces and
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2,
2012, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch.
Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m., with Rev. Barry Reed,
Pastor Lewis Mead and Brother Danny Dolen officiating.
Honorary Minister, Rev. Orville Dolen.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, February
3, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Jackson, Bo Jackson, Scott
Jackson, Kenny Higgins, Jeffrey Wallen, and Chance Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place,
Memphis, TN 38105.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch, TN, is serving
