I have been searching for my great great grandfather Anderson M Light (1827-1885)from TN who moved to Perry Co KY and then to Parker Co TX and felt like he was a part of this Light family somewhere so I have done some digging and looking at various postings on Ancestry.com. What I found was that John Light (died 1736) & Ann Lucia (born 1695 had a son John Light (1715 VA-?) who married Bridget Greene (1729-1790) and they had the following children: (1) George (1737-1774), (2) Jacob (1739-1818)& Ann Russell (1737-1818), (3) William (1740-1819) & Patience Dillingham (1742-1813), (4) Hannah (1751 Halifax VA-?) who married John Brown (1743-?), (5) John Jr (1753-1824)& Joanna Dickson (?-1806), (6) Sarah (1754VA-?) & ? Childress/Childree/Childers(not sure of spelling) and (7) Agnes (1756-?) & Joseph Moody. I didn't spend much time on researching the girls since I was looking for a Light surname but I did find that Hannah & John Brown had the following children: John 1765, Martin 1767, Sally, 1769, James 1771, Bridget 1773, Fleming 1775, Lazarus 1777 and Ursley 1779. I just doubled checked ancestry.com to see if there was any more info that someone else had already found and I see where Martin married Dec 6 1788 to Caty Younger (no dates for her and no idea who her parents were. There is no indication of who John Brown's parents were. I would suggest looking in Halifax Co VA where Hannah was born for marriage records, land records, death records, etc. I have no idea if they stayed in VA after marriage or if they migrated to TN or SC/GA where the other siblings of Hannah went. I believe that the 1st John Light mentioned above was the first to US and came from England and probably from the Lyte family there but I haven't done enough digging to ascertain this. If I find my Anderson Light ties into this family I will do further research. Everything I did was cursory until I find a definite link. I know that there was a book published for a family reunion up in TN that has this info in it. I have tried to find a copy of it but all were sold there at the reunion. I don't think it was published for the "general population" to purchase. It was called Light Family Book by B. Light. I hope I have helped but I fear not but this is all I have. Good luck & happy hunting. (The Obediah this original message is about is one of Jacob's children (Jacob being a brother to Hannah).
