Stephen Light, I began my search for the Swann, Jett, Graves, Hays and Light family tree over 20 years ago. I have hit a dead wall. I have searched, written courthouses and visited libraries. I have tried to find the parents of Alzonia E Light. She married Joseph Jett, her daughter Elmirah married George Washington Swann, their son Joseph Swann is my grandmother's dad. Her name was Rosa Belle Swann, and my grandfather was Burvie Richard Hayes (the actual name he was given in the bible was Burvey Richardson Hays but it changed at some point. My grandmother said Elmirah was a "light color Cherokee" not a "dark color Cherokee" like her brother James Jett who ran a Trading Post. She was almost 100 yrs old when she died and I have her telling me about her history on video. I looked for years and found a Alzonia Light listed on the Choctaw Role. I sent all my history and paperwork to Oklahoma to confirm this info. But they stated it was not the same. Can you please help me.
