My name is Shelah Bellew Crick and I have done the genealogy of the Jett, Swann, Hayes and Graves family tree. My mother was Mildred (Billie) Hayes Bellew, my grandmother was Rosa Belle Swann Hayes, my great grandmother was Elmira Jett Swann and my great-great grandmother was Alzonia Light Jett.
My Grandmother Hayes stated that her great grandmother was ALZONIA lIGHT AND SHE WAS CHEROKEE AND HER BROTHER JIM JETT OWN A TRADING POST. I tried to find Alzonia Light and unable to find. Are you any closer to finding her parent. There was a Choctaw Indian woman who went to Oklahoma with the trail of tears named Alzonia Light. But I do not know if she gave her baby to someone to raise and named the baby after herself or what? Do you know anything about her being Cherokee? Please let me know by email.
