D. J. Light, 68, of Weber City, VA, died Wednesday,
December 10, 2008, at Indian Path Medical Center,
Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN.
He was a graduate of Gate City High School in 1961. D.J.
retired from Anderson News in 2004 as Route Supervisor
with over 45 years of service. He attended Gate City
United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noble William
'Bill' and Mollie Dixon Light; brother-in-law, Louis K.
Free.
D.J. is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Martha Lynn
Compton Light; two sons, Richard Scott Light, of Witchita,
KS, and Jerry Lee Light and wife Teresa, of Weber City,
VA; one grandson, Daniel Jordan Light, of Bristol, TN; one
sister, Phyllis Ann Free, of Elizabethton, TN; one
brother, Sam William Light, of Weber City, VA.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday,
December 13, 2008, at Scott County Funeral Home, 2060 US
Highway 23N, Weber City with Rev. George Willis and Rev.
Larry Spivey officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the
service.
It was D.J.'s wishes to be cremated, to remember him as he
was, and think of him with his Heavenly family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to
Gate City United Methodist Church, 255 Walnut Street, Gate
City, VA, 24251.
Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, is serving the
Light family.
