Thanks so much for the information about Eliza Jane and her descendants. Your branch of the family has certainly done a lot of traveling in the British Isles since leaving Cornwall! As for my side, I think I'll begin with Eliza's brother Richard, my great-grandfather. He was born in 1856 in Todpool Village, Kenwyn, Cornwall, and emigrated from England to Colorado in the 1880s. He built houses in the mining town of Central City, Colorado, and later was the superintendent of a lumber yard in Denver. His brothers, Joseph and John, joined him in Denver, and eventually their widowed mother, Ann Light Webber, came too. She married a man named Percy (surname) and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Lakewood, Colorado. Interestingly, like Eliza Jane's, Richard's spouse was Welsh; she was Mary Hughes from Pentraeth on the Isle of Anglesey. She had come to Denver as a young woman to care for her brother's three children after his wife died. My grandmother, Nellie (Eliza's niece), also married a man of Welsh descent, so I'm about 3/8 Welsh. Richard and Mary had six children, Margaret, who died in infancy, Harry, Grace, Nellie, Richard, and Hugh. Harry settled in California, but the other children all stayed in Denver and most of their descendants are in the Denver area today. I'm an exception; since my marriage I've always lived outside the state and for the past fifteen years have been in Davis, California (a town of about 65,000 people just to the west of Sacramento.) My mother and sister both live in a suburb of Denver, though, and so I return frequently.
I have two sons and two little granddaughters, ages four and two. The younger one, Ella, has beautiful green eyes, which my mother tells me are inherited from the Webbers! Do members of your family have them?
I'm sorry you weren't able to reach my home email. My anti-virus program may be blocking foreign messages; I'll see if I can reset it. Thanks again for telling me the very interesting story of Eliza Jane's family. It's like having a sequel to a favorite novel!
All the best,
