Sorry to take so long in getting back to you! I found Sophia's grave on my last trip back to WV and that's not an easy thing to do!
Sophia's name was Sophia Ann Elizabeth Light and she was born 11 Nov. 1841 in VA to Henry and Magdalene. Next was her brother Lorenzo Michael Light b: 4 Aug. 1843. I know they then moved to Tennessee. They are found in the 1850 Census in Sumner County, District 6. Samuel Houston Light was born 18 Aug. 1845, but believed to have died young. Nancy Ann Light b: 28 Jul 1847 in Tennessee, then Martha Ann Light b: 1848 in Tennessee, then Jerusha Ann Light b: 10 May 1852, also in Tennessee(Notice the theme with Ann for a middle name). Finally Lougennia Henry Light b: 31 May 1855 in Osceola, St. Clair County, MO.
Henry Lowe Light died in Osceola, St. Clair County on 13 Nov 1859. He owned land there and his brother Samuel Light lived there as well.
Now it may be possible that Magdalene was pregnant when the 1860 Census was taken because our family story says there was one other youngest brother named Ramsey or Ranzie, but I haven't found any record of him.
I do know that Sophia was married to John Edwards on 9 March 1860 and divorced from him in Sept. of 1861. That was her first husband and no issue.
The family story goes that their home/farm/plantation was burned and they had to leave Missouri. And that was the case because Lane rode into Osceola and burned it to the ground.
We have heard that Sophia married an unknown May or Mays as her second husband and that he was killed in the Civil War. We don't know where they met, where they married or where he died. We only know that on April 11, 1864, Sophia had her first child Emma Jane May(s). We aren't sure of her exact birthplace, but on the 1870 Census, Sophia put that Emma was born in Ohio.
We also know that she married Jesse Joplin(g) on 14 June 1865 in Kanawha County, WV. Jesse had fought in the war and Lorezo Michael Light had also fought in WV. Both were wounded.
The story goes that the youngest brother Ramsey/Ranzie Light died on the boat trip to WV and was buried in Point Pleasant, WV. I have no facts to back this up. I'm also not sure what happened to Magdalene. I found someone that had her as being buried at Point Pleasant, but have never found a record of this (yet). Very good possibility.
I know Lougennia (she was called Jenny) stayed with her brother Lorenzo and his wife and children as she is on the 1870 Census there. She married William Henry Green and they had Pearlie Edison Green b: 9 June 1889.
Jerusha Ann married Charles A. Young on 5 July 1866. She had just turned 14. They had a child Jerusha Anne Young born 15 July 1867 and then Jerusha Ann (the mother) died on 06 Feb 1868.
Martha Ann died before 1860.
I have not been able to discover what happened to Nancy Ann.
Lorenzo Michael married Emily Francis Light in Kanawha Co on 21 Jul 1865. They had Magdalena Light, Joseph M. Light, Eliza E. Light, David F. Light, and William A. Light. His second wife was Grace Greenwood Woodrum and they had one child, California Gold Light. I have seen a picture of Lorenzo, Grace and California. Between 1880 and 1890, Lorenzo went back to Roanoke County, VA where he was born. 1890 Veterans Schedule, Cave Springs, Roanoke Co, VA - Disability Incurred: Shot in left leg in Civil War
1900 Census, Cave Springs Dist., Roanoke County, VA (under the name Lewis Light) age 56
1910 Census, Salem Town, Roanoke Co, VA - age 66
Served in Company G, 13th WV Infantry during Civil War. Was granted both an invalid pension and a widow's pension for his surviving spouse Grace G. Leight
Sophia Ann Elizabeth Light married Jesse Jopling and they had John, Sarah V., James Henry, Alfred, Ramsey, William, Clarence, and Thomas J.
Sophia and Jesse and buried beside each other with one headstone and individual footstones.
