I believe that my ancestor William Bennett, gent. (1700-1756) of Fontmell Magna in northern Dorset married a Martha Light, ca 1730. I don't know for certain that her surname was 'Light'. However, the 'Light' coat of arms was carved as an escutcheon on his tombstone indicating that he was assuming his wife's arms (perhaps she did not have brothers). For the next 100 years or more many of his descendants (at least 10) used Light as their middle name.
Do you think there is a possible connection here?
