Dear Janet,
I'm no expert on Jacob. There are many who are experts. Jacob was the son of John Light Senior and his wife Bridgett of Halifax Virginia. Jacob was not in th Rev. War, but his wife Ann Russell has many war heros in her family. Anne's brother William was the first man to reach the top of King's mountain in the battle. He got to the top with nothing but his sword and his bare hands. Since King's Mountain and Guilford Courthouse are considered the decisive turn in that war, you could say that Jacob's son in law was in the Revolutionary War. Anyway they named a county after him in Kentucky I think. He retired a general or was that his father? Anyway William Russell is called the "hero of the Blackhawk War, too. I went to a reunion of Jacob Lights descendants in Indiana. They have a lot Mathias names, & Tyce, etc. I do know that some of Jacobs descendants went to Indiana, some to Maries County Missouri, and some to Kentucky. There are records in Anderson SC. I followed the censuses into Missouri once. Im sure someone on this website or the Russells will answer you.
Steve Light
