My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Martha Licht, apparently born in Chicago in 1895. Family members have used the names Light, Licht, and Leight. My late mother mentioned an old spelling of Leucht, which may have actually been Luecht. Their were Lichts in Allegan, MI and Chicago. Martha's father may have been Johann, and her mother was Minnie, who later became Minnie Roch. Old letters mention John, another Martha, Mary, Edward, Walter, (both were in WWI), Joseph (his mother was Katherine), and Ralph.

If any of this rings a bell, please let me know.
