Salena, welcome to the wonderful world of genealogy and the continuing pursuit of Prudence (Lide). May I suggest you acquire a copy of John Leslie Mixson's "The Mixon-Mixson Family" 3 vols published by McDowell Publications 1969, Hartford, KY. On pg 6 Vol 1: "John Mixon (I) was the headright from England to Virginia; John Mixon (II) was his son and the husband of Grace (Mixon); John Mixon (III) was son of John (II) and Grace, born Feb 14, 1680 in Abingdon Parish, Gloucester County, VA, and with his wife PRUDENCE are mentioned in North Carolina records." It is further noted: "(one Mixon descendant has sent in the following information, the original source from which it came being unknown and as yet not verified): John Mixon, b. Feb 14, 1680, Goucestershire County, VA, wife Prudence Lide, b. March 18, 1683. He died 27 Feb., 1734 Onslow County, N.C. She died June 9 1738 in South Carolina. (Note: It is possible she died June 9, 1728 in North Carolina.) John Mixon married (2) Joyce Cleave Phillips, a widow in June, 1729 Hyde County, North Carolina)."

As you can see the reference to Prudence as a Lide was not verified. I am not aware on any documentary evidence supporting Prudence's Lide ancestry. However, there is further anecdotal evidence as the Mixon's and Lide's have further contact in South Carolina in the Revolutionary War. In Vol. (I) page 175: Jesse Mixon, son of John Mixon (IV) - "His [Jesse's] name appears first in South Carolina records as being one of the signers and members of Capt. Robert Lide's Company of Volunteers, organized Oct. 9, 1775."
John (III) and Prudence are one of my 7xgreat grandparents on my mother's side of the family.
I wish you well in your search. If I may be of any further assistance, please let me know.

Sincerely, David Montgomery
