Spielberg, Baden
I am researching the history of the Spielberg, Baden and would like to hear from anyone who has a connection to the Bittmann, Dietz, Karcher, Morlock or Lichtenfels family names from Spielberg.
My great grandparents, Gottlieb Dietz and Katherine Bittmann came to America, arriving in NY City on the ship Germania, on September 10,1863. They were accompanied by their friends Wilhelm Karcher and Katherine Stucki. They settled in Brooklyn, NY. Gottlieb and Kate married sometime shortly after arriving in America, sometime between Sept 1863 and the middle of 1865
Katherine Bittmann was born April 1841 of parents Johann Friederick Bittmann and Catherine Morlock both born in Spielberg. Johann and Catherine were married on February 5, 1837 in Spielberg. Catherine Morlocks parents were Sebastian Morlock and Catherine Lichtenfels. Katherine Bittmann Dietz died January 17, 1887.
Gottlieb Dietz was born June 1838 of parents Gottlieb Dietz, born January 1811 in Spielberg and Regina Karcher born March 1806 in Spielberg. They were married on May 24, 1835. Gottlieb's parents were Philipp Diez(no T) and Anna Marie Karcher who were married on August 21, 1798. Gottlieb Dietz died October 13, 1903.
The Children of Gottlieb Dietz and Katherine Bittmann were: Madeline Dietz Munch(b March 1866), Katherine Dietz Schriver (b 1866), William Dietz (b.1867, d 1887), Frederick Dietz (b.1872 d.1943), Daniel Dietz (b. 1874, d.1895), Louis Dietz (b.1873, d. 1903), Charles Dietz (b. 1881, d. 1933), and Sophia Dietz Furst (b.1883).
I am the grandson of Frederick Dietz (b. 1872, d. 1943) who lived in Greenpoint, NY all his life.
