LEYVA SURNAME,REGION,HISTORY
Please Note: The Leyva Surname has been traced to Castile, Spain - The Family is part of the SPANISH CHRISTAIN RECONQUEST Of Spain. 3 Leyva's where found migrating to the New World with the surname as settlers was P. Leiva who settled in New Orleans in 1835, Juan De Leyva settled in Venezuela in 1534, and I.V. Leiva who settled in New Orleans in 1860.*Other Leyva's came on SHIPS to SOUTH AMERICA & the family name is found in PERU, COLUMBIA, CUBA, MEXICO, etc; as well as many in the PHILLIPINE ISLANDS, USA, FLORIDA locality and in New Mexico as well as lots in Texas, and in Southern California on the Coastal Regions of California.
The Variation of Spelling is: LEYVA, LEIVA, LEYBA - The name maybe of Sepharic Spanish/Jew and part of the ISRAEL Tribe of LEYVA before it ever got over to SPAIN.Realize the Tribe of LEVI ' was scattered & the Leyva's are part of that Lost recognition due to what took place in Spain with the Catholic Church ' and the Jews.Jews and Spanish mixed. Many where prosecuted as Jews and made to give up their Culture and Claim SPANISH DESCENT due to the RELIGION within the Catholic Church.*If, you speak to the Mormon Church they themselves will tell you about the 10 Tribes Of Israel & the lost tribes which MANY are in SOUTH AMERICA.
*My Concentration will be to work with the below MEXICO / LEYVA lines on the following records ordered:
Information Municipal - Center Of Information Economics & Social:
The concentration of LEYVA Families are located by locality are in Allende, Cuidad Carmango, and Ojinaga which I have researched as the closest families living near Lake Boquilla, San Francisco De Conchos, Chihuahua, Mexico.I feel that the close connection to this name would be within the same 'region' of nearby areas, as one would have to imagine that these are Old Families in some small towns, villages, hacinda's of Northern Mexico which got around back then by Horse, Wagon, foot, and later by train and bus.
The State of Chihuahua, Mexico is located in the North Western part of Mexico, bounded on the North by the States of New Mexico and Texas in the United States, on the east by the State of Coahuila, on the South by the State of Durango, and on the West by the States of Sonora and Sinaloa.
