LEYDEN: Ireland to Liverpool, England.

Hi to all researching the name Leyden and variants.

I have the following:

Alice LEYDEN born 1846 in Liverpool England.
Father: Daniel Charles Leyden, Mother Alice (surname not known at this point).

In the 1851 census I have an index for Daniel as follows:

LEYDON DANIEL C. COPPER MERCHANTS CLERK IRELAND 134A 2182/1

This is for Liverpool, Lancs.

His daughter Alice married in 1865 and confirms Daniel Charles Leyden a clerk as her father so this 1851 index is a perfect match. There are only a handful of Leyden's and variants in Liverpool, all originate from Ireland so must of come over around the time of the famine.

I think Daniel also remarried after his wife Alice's death in 1856 as I found an entry in the IGI for a Charles Edward Leyden with Daniel Charles as his father and mother as Caroline.

I can't find any of the family in the 1871 to date.

Please get in touch if you can link with this line or offer any help, I'm struggling to progress further with Daniel Charles Leyden.

Good luck and kind regards Val in Lancashire.
