Magdelena Ley/Sponheimer>Germany>NYC

Am looking for any information on my husband's gggrandmother, Magdelena(Madeline) (hard to read the information on her DC.) According to that her father's name was August Lay but there have been various spellings on all the children's death certificates. One of them even mentioned Heppel as being the maiden name but most had some variation of the Lay/Ley spelling.
It also mentioned that Madeline Lay was her mother's name. Don't know if the "Madeline" was a mistake or not, for her mother. I think that she might have also been called "Lena" on some of the census reports.

I believe that she was born around 1832, in Germany as was her husband Johannes (John) Sponheimer in Germany. Not sure of exactly where they both were born. I rhink that it was somewhere in the area of Bavaria or Rhineland Phalz, possibly around Rehborn where I think Johannes might have been from.

They both came too the USA with son Karl (Charles), I believe about 1865 and settled in the Brooklyn, New York area where they raised their family( about 10 children I think but not all survived). Son Frederick was my husband's grandfather.

Would love to find any Ley kin as well as well as any Sponheimers. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Marilyn Sponheimer
