Lost Lewis Line - Wm III and Fredrick Possible Link
Posted by: Malcom Lee (ID *****4907) Date: October 07, 2008 at 09:44:36

William Lewis III from Duplin NC had a son Fredrick b.1756. It seems that this Lewis branch has been lost over time to the family and I believe I may have found a connection, hopefully. This Fredrick Lewis is known to have had a son, Jonathan, b.1784. During my research into Zachariah Lewis,b.1820 and my gggrandfather, I found on Zach's marriage certificate with his first wife, Torvesa Nelson, Bibb Co. GA dated 5/11/1839 his father Jonathan b. NC and mother Nancy b.? These are Zachariah's parents and witnesses. I am now trying to connect Jonathan to Fredrick. The only other time I see Jonathan and Nancy anywhere in the Southeast US, they are listed on the 1860 census record for Coffee Co. Alabama living in the Hillary and Charlotte Free hausehold along with the Free children. Their ages are 76 and 72 and if that one piece is solved, that means Charlotte, most likely is a sister to my gggrandpa. The ages are a match for the Jonathan and Nancy listed in Macon Ga in 1839 and for the Jonathan Lewis born to Fredrick Lewis of Duplin NC. If anybody out there is researching this Lewis line and can either confirm or refute these findings, please, PLEASE respond. If the link can be proven, That lost Lewis line will no longer be lost to Geneology and our family, and my 10 years of research will have been completed successfully on this branch. I am SOOOOO CLOSE!

Thank you in advance,
Malcom Lee
