George Gilmer, one of the early governors of Georgia wrote a history of some of the early residents of upper Georgia. This includes migrations into Georgia of the Meriweathers/Meriwethers who were from Louisa County, Virginia. They are if I recall also related to the Lewis families in Va. He relates many of the early families from Va. and NC who migrated into Wilkes Co.,Georgia right at or during the Revolutionary War. This book last year was a reprint offered by Southern Historical Press of Greenville, SC.

I am sure this publisher has a website. I get frequent publications from SHP but do not keep the fliers. I think the name of the book was Gilmer's Georgia.
