Rod,
I know there are lots of "Lewin Trees" in the forest, as may be expected for a name that dates back to the Domesday book.
Although my family on my father's side can be traced back several centuries in Hertfordshire, my Lewin roots are in Huntingdonshire, and probably quite separate from your own, only arriving in Hertfordshire in the early 20th Century.
But as you have an interest in Hertfordshire, you may like to know that one Edmund Lewin was church warden in my home parish of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire for a long time around 1745, an several members of the family are recorded in the parish registers there.
