My father was born in Red Bay, Alabama. His name was Clifton Owen Lewey. His mother and aunt married brothers and there are numerous "double-first cousins". These Leweys were descended from Frederick Lewey, who came from Alsace-Lorraine, an area on the borders of France and Germany that no longer exist as it has become Alsace, France and Lorraine, Germany. Frederick arrived in North Carolina in the 1700's with five children. Four sons and a daughter named Charlotte. I have alot of information about one of the sons, Michael, who became my ancestor and settled in southwest Tennessee. I have the names of the other sons, as well. I have learned alot about this very interesting family and will share it with you if you like. I'd love to know anything you have discovered as well. My maiden name was Lewey.
