I'm working on Asa Lewellen's line for a friend and I noticed your post included:
"Ash (could be Asa....?) Lewellen Order Book...1820-1823....Overseers of poor summoned to show why he has not been bound."
I suspect Asa is somehow connected to these other Lewellins in Campbell/Bedford counties.I suppose the order book implies that Asa was orphaned as a child (or maybe illegitimate). It's frustrating that he doesn't seem to show up in many records for the county and he isn't living very close to any other Lewellins on the 1830 (Bedford co) or 1840 (Roanoke Co) census
Do you know if the order book entry for Asa was for 1820, 1821, 1822 or 1823?Have you seen any other references to him?
The line I'm following is for Asa's son, John A. Lewallen, who married Margaret Hearne c1857 in Missouri and eventually removed to San Joaquin co, California where he died in 1902.
thanks for any insight you might provide.
