Hello: Looking for others researching the Thomas Lewandowski (with variant spellings) family of Jersey City, NJ. In the 1900 census the family is given as "Levendusky": Thomas, age 47 [b. ~1853], "Germany;" year of immigration: 1883, Alien Eva, wife, age 44 [b. ~1856], "Germany;" year of immigration: 1884 John, son, age 17 [b. ~1883], "Germany;" year of immigration: 1884 Annie, daughter, age 15 [b. ~1885], NJ; Joseph, son, age 13 [b. ~1887], NJ; Frank, son, age 11 [b. ~1889], NJ; Stella, daughter, age 9 [b. ~1891], NJ; Martha, daughter, age 7 [b.~1893], NJ; Thomas, son, age 2 [b. ~1898], NJ I believe Eva and the son John are the same as the following, who sailed on the "General Werder" from Bremen and arrived in NYC on 24 December 1883: Eva "Levendowski," age 26 [b. ~1857], wife; Johann, age 8 months [b. 1883], child Traveling with them were: Marijanna Levendowski, age 27 [b. ~1856], wife; Leon, age 5[?], child; Josepha, age 3, child; Francisca, age 11 months [b. ~1883], child I believe Francisca (Frances) is possibly my great-grandmother, daughter of John and "Mary" (Urban/Urbaniak) Lewandowski who settled in Albany, NY. Thomas is therefore possibly John's brother... Looking for any information on where the family might have originated in Poland/Germany and any possible cousins.
