Charles Ellsworth Levering according to family tradition was born in 1863 in Leroy NY. he married Phoebe Jane Calvert. my father was the first of 5 boys and was born in June of 1909 in De Moines (sp) Iowa. my father told me when he was in the army in 1927 i tried to see hie Uncle Walter Levering who was at that time working at Radio City Music Hall. he never did get to see him. so Charles did have a brother Walter. we think their mother was Mary.
there is another family tradition that their father immigrated
maybe from the south west of France.
Charles had a brick making business in Iowa.
