Lester and Hewlings/Hulon
Looking for feedback for those people researching the Lesters from southwest Virginia/WV/KY area on some records I've found recently.
The book, "Early Friends of Upper Bucks County, Pennsylvania," on page 50: Shows Hannah Hewlings, d. of Abraham Hewlings & Diana Griffith married John Lester of Bucks Co., PA.
The book doesn't name John Lester's parents or give a marriage date, but Abraham Hewlings' 1722 will (in Burlington Co., NJ) names his daughter Hannah, so she had to have been born before this date. She wasn't married by 1722, although some of her sisters were.
I also found the last name Hewlings spelled various ways in old PA and NJ records: Hewling, Hueling, Hulon, Hulens, etc. Look familiar?
I am wondering if the John Lester who married Hannah Hewlings is the same John Lester who shows up in Loudoun County, Virginia with possible sons Abner, Samuel and John whose descendants are in southwest Virginia with names like Abner Hulon Lester, etc.
Look how Hulon Lester's name was spelled for his marriage to Margaret Snyder in 1823: (from the book, "Marriages of the New River Valley" by Therese A. Fisher):
LESTER, Hewlins & Snyder, Margaret, 20 Feb 1823, MM(Montgomery County, VA Marriages)
I am thinking this is not a coincidence. Anyone else?
