I share your point of view.I have worked on my Isaac Lester, Sr. for about 60 years. He was the only brother who was not a Tory. His father was listed in DAR because he gave some corn to the troups, so someone proved him a Patriot.I read somewhere he did not want to do it.
Over these years I have grown to change my feeling about this Lester family, and feel badly for what the Musgrove family went through because of Mugrove Mill.I believe Bob Stevens the historian of SC probably has figured this out by now.Drop him a note to his e-mail address on Genforum, and I know he will give you a proper answer.I greatly admire him and have one of his books.
David Nolen also has been researching these two families for many, many years. He is a descendant of Charles Lester also. His ancestors came to Alabama.Should I find anyone who can answer our question, I will be sure to let you know.I could tell from reading your notes you did your own research!Betty Blackwell has exchanged correspondence with you I think, and she is still working on the families. She is from Peter Lester, brother of Charles.
I found some information on these Lester's in the Library in Huntsville years ago.We have done a DNA test and match a descendant of John Lester of Montgomery County, Virginia.Charles said he was born in Virginia at the courthouse during the "family battle over the will".They branded us the fighting Lesters.A descendant of Charles who still lives in Newberry County, SC wants to come and visit me.If I learn anything "new" with a good source, I will let you know. She is a descendant of "Willie" who turns out to be Francis William "Willie" Lester, so I try to figure the years I could not place him.It takes time for sure.
Good Searching to you!!
