Your theory is intriguing but I don’t think Nancy is a Ryburn. At least she wasn’t the sister of James Orr Ryburn which would make her the d/o Mathew Ryburn and Martha Orr.Take a peek at this page for Mathew:http://www.ramblingroots.com/RYB-p/p1714.htmhttp://www.ramblingroots.com/RYB-p/p1714.htm. And scroll down half way or so to the second Probate Recd entry.Mathew’s settlement did not mention a daughter Nancy.Elizabeth Allison’s Early SW VA Families does not credit Mathew with a daughter Nancy. Redmond Cole’s info from John Clark Ryburn (a s/o James Orr Ryburn) does not list a daughter Nancy for Mathew. And Mathew’s niece, writing a journal abt 1870, named all of Mathew’s children and didn’t include a daughter Nancy. So… I don’t think James Orr Ryburn had a sister Nancy. You noted the daughter Nancy in James Orr Ryburn and Margaret J. Beattie’s 1860 household. She was named for Margaret’s mother Nancy (Clark) Beattie; the daughter’s full name was Nancy Clark Ryburn. I can’t account for the Ryburn Lester – he is one of several instances where Ryburn is used as a given name without our having figured out why – no doubt there is a female Ryburn somewhere out there we haven’t identified yet but don’t think there is enough evidence to label Ryland Lester’s wife Nancy Ryburn.) /// WCV PPTLs, listed Ryland 1851, 1854, 1860, 1864, 1867; Ryley, 1852; Ryland M., 1853, 1855, 1856, 1863; not observed: 1857, 1858; Ryland Luster, 1859, 1868; Ricland Lester, 1861; Riling Lester, 1862; Riland, 1866, 1869; Ryland Luser, 1870 (Not located in census that year!1875 PPTL, Upper: Luster, Ryland. Not listed in 1878 PPTL or 1880c, so he must have died c1876-1877.)
